Birthday Build!

Jim and I have never had nightstands.  Really, we never needed them.  I always kept the clock on a desk in our room.  Jim has never needed an alarm to wake up, he just always wakes up when he needs to.  But now with a cell phone that gets charged nightly he has started using this!
(pretty sure Kamrie originally brought this
in our room for her popcorn)

Well, about a month ago I happened upon a most amazing girl and her amazing blog!  It's called Knock-off Wood and is truly inspiring.  She takes famous brand furniture, and then creates easy plans to make them yourself.  AND she posts them all for free!!

So for Jim's birthday I thought I would build him a real night stand.  After a few different finishes on the legs, I think it looks pretty good.  Of course I had to go buy a lamp and a fancy charger for the phone so my inexpensive gift cost a little more than planned, but it was all worth it!

Hard to Believe!

On Friday September 15, 1989, TWENTY years ago, Jimbo (that's what we called him back then) and I had our first date! We went to the Dollar Movie in Orem, UT and saw the movie Lean on Me. A little known fact is that after that date, I knew we would get married! I knew from that first date I would spend the rest of my life with him. And twenty years later, I love him more than I thought I could. (listen to the song playing on my play list)

We have had a date almost every Friday possible since then,
and I hope to have at least twenty more years of Friday night dates!
(can't believe I am posting this picture)

(one more thing - A few years ago Jim came home from the video store with a VHS copy of Lean on Me)

Don't Blame Me

Dear Jim,

I know it drives you crazy that we have such different sleep schedules! I really wish that I could be ready for bed at 9:00 like you. We could lay in bad and discuss our day, and our kids, and generally have time together. Luckily, for me, I don't have to be up at 4:30 for work! (I would so be fired from that job) I admire you for all you do for us. But, the point of this blog is to explain that it isn't always my fault that I come to bed at 11 or later!

For example this is what happened last night-

I had to turn off my computer before bed - it was 10 and I was really tired and excited to be going to bed early! I sat down, decided to check my email. Then I thought I would check my google reader to see if anyone had updated their blog. Now this particular night I blame my friend Mandee for being up til 11!

She had updated her blog, I love her, and her blog! Well, in this particular blog she mentioned another blog she reads, and put a link to it. Of course I had to check it out. Well . . . on that blog there was a link to THIS blog!! UGH!! I spent an hour reading the posts! I just lose all track of time! So at least for last night, I blame Mandee!

GAME ON!!

Jim and I have an on going disagreement. He thinks that he changes the toilet paper in our bathroom more than me!! I was surprised on Sunday to find this message.

In the mean time he was using a roll that was placed on the back of the toilet. If you know me, you know there was NO WAY I was going to change that roll!! Eventually, Jim changed it, he had used the last of it, and so I felt it should be left to him. Now I guess we are having a competition to see who actually does change the roll the most.

Some may argue that I use more toilet paper then Jim - I am a girl, and I am home more. But I still say, if you use the last of it, you should change it. AND you should not leave a few squares on, and then start a new roll that is put on the back of the toilet.

I guess what Jim doesn't understand, is that if he wins, and changes the roll more than me, I also win, by always having a new roll!!

Just for Fun!

My friend Mandee had this on her blog and I had to try it too. I don't know how accurate it is, I did get different results with different pictures.

I've Been Tagged!

I am not sure about this, but Jaime "tagged" me, so I guess I am supposed to answer the following questions!!

1. Where did you meet your husband?
We met for the first time at Kathy Gabbitas' 16th birthday party. He has no memory of meeting me. He was 19 I was 14. (I was actually very interested in his brother Jeff at the time) We met again, thanks to Kathy, at BYU.

2. What was the first thing you said to your husband?
I really don't remember. But Kathy invited him and his friend to my dorm for brownies, and they brought ice cream, I think I said something about him going to the store on Sunday.

3. Where was your first date?
Dollar movie in Provo, we saw Lean on Me. This is a movie with Morgan Freeman, he is a principal of a pretty bad high school, and helps turn it around.

4. Where was your first kiss?
At Jim's apartment.

5. Did you have a long or short engagement/courtship?
We had our first date on September 15, and we were engaged on October 14. Then we got married on March 3. 5 1/2 months from first date to wedding. You be the judge.

6. Where did you get engaged?
We actually got engaged on a plane. It has been said that I can be demanding. I mentioned to Jim that when he proposed it should be good. His room mate at the time Matt Morris had his pilots license and Jim had been bugging me to go flying. I really didn't want to. But one day he would not take no for an answer. So we went to the airport and Matt kept taking all these pictures, it was really bugging me. So we finally took off. We flew around for awhile and as we flew of Timpveiw High School I looked down on the football field and in great big letters it said "Will You Marry Me Amy". Some of his other friends had done that part. And the rest as they say is history.

7. Where did you get married?

Los Angeles Temple

8. How did the reception go?
It was good. A lot of people and we stood in the receiving line forever. The best part was the song Peter wrote and performed. The worst part, was we didn't eat anything. We actually ordered Domino's when we got home.

9. How was the honeymoon?
It was good. Thanks to generous friends we were offered condos in Mamoth and the beach. We went to mammoth first, and it was snowy and cold. (I hate the the cold) So we left and went to the beach.

Tag your it!!

Linda - come on you can do it (or Candice can)
